Deepavali Meeting - 25 Oct 2011

Shah Alam TMC’s “Next Leap” Meeting ~ Tues 11 Oct 2011

Shah Alam TMC was rejuvenated by a rare gush of energy when the club’s founding member Datuk V or Mano, made his re-appearance  after an absence of almost 2 years. (WOW!)  Another faithful member, Nashatar Singh also deserved mention by attending 2 meetings in a row, after a 2-year hiatus. (WOW!)

Tengku Sha, the TME, brought a very amiable guest, Azahar and promoted the TM concept to all present with his usual bravado, eloquence, drive and passion. The IP AreaB4 Gov, Teoh Chun Ming was also present to play his role as the evaluator of VPE Zul’s advanced speech and to publicize the HPL workshop which will be facilitated by DTM LeeAnn Tang on 19 Nov. And then there were 3 “guests” from INTEC TMC, two of whom played roles while 1 shared an Icebreaker speech. To crown it all, we had Vincent Soon ACB, ALB, from Shaklee to be the GE, ever-ready to share his bubbly bag of jokes and ideas for improvement with the audience.

It was certainly good to have the meeting graced by 16 attentive and eager participants. Four speakers rose to the challenges posed  to them by  Mano’s  Table Topics which dwelt on idioms.  DTM Sharmini took the prize of “Best Table Topics Speaker” when she talked about the wisdom of “Look before You Leap”.

Of the 4 project speakers, VPE Zul has certainly demonstrated great strides of improvement. He spoke with conviction, delivered pragmatic advice and added vibrant shades of tonal expression to keep us transfixed and mildly amused. An auditor by profession, Zul shared 3 tips to help us balance our imbalances in life.

Undoubtedly, our club champion speaker and President, Nor Lida remained unbeatable and emerged as the Best Assignment Speaker. Nor Lida’s 10-min  After Dinner Speech focused on the  challenges we face in our efforts to hone our public speaking skills. She then convinced us to seek inspiration from simple things in our everyday life to push us a step further, to take the next leap for our continued growth and improvement.

At the end of the meeting, Azahar was convinced to sign up as a member. He was impressed by the unique evaluation and constructive comments which speakers received. The INTEC members also shared  their initial fears and apprehensions but agreed that this visit had been a great learning experience to remember.

So let us “follow through on the promise (we) made to reach our goals” and just “keep moving on  to excel and succeed together!
